Carbon steel ST 35/ST 35.8 tubing is made mostly of carbon, manganese, phosphorus, sulfur, and silicon. The carbon varies generally to about 0.17%, with manganese ranging from 0.4% to 0.8%. Phosphorus and sulfur are maintained at low levels, usually below 0.030%, for improvement in weldability and the lowering of brittleness. Mechanical properties consist of tensile strengths ranging from 360–480 MPa, yield strengths ranging from 235 MPa, and elongation percentages ranging from 25%, depending on the grade. These tubes are made for resisting high-pressure conditions and are perfect for hydraulic systems.
